Air Handling for Energy Saving


Air treatment unit for energy saving 

Context:

Retrieving the extracted air energy to pre-heat or pre-cool fresh air

Objective:

To achieve energy savings (gas, fuel, electricity) of an industrial site by treating the fresh air necessary to the air treatment systems.

Solutions implemented by Clauger

Working principle: retrieve the energy extracted from the glycolic water loop 

During winter, the aim is to pre-heat the fresh air and during summer to pre-cool the fresh air.

Equipment: 4 AHU of 80,500 m3/h per unit, thus QV of 322,000 m3/h of pre-treated fresh ai 

Results:

During winter: A +5 air treatment unit’s outflow temperature when pre-treating fresh air at -10°C

During summer: A +15 air treatment unit’s outflow temperature when pre-treating fresh air at +30°C.

Retrieved power (P) of 421,7 kW per units, thus 1,684,000 W
